Review: Canadian Mist Whisky
Review: Canadian Mist Whisky
Don’t laugh. Canadian Mist may not be a top-shelf name in the Canadian whisky world, but the spirit’s been picking up some surprising awards, including a Double Gold Medal at the San Francisco Spirits Competition this year — the only Canadian to win one in 2009.
Not bad for whisky that costs 10 bucks a bottle.
It’s easy to see why Canadian Mist is so beloved by some drinkers: It’s smooth as silk, and really goes down easy. That’s not entirely a compliment, mind you: Canadian Mist isn’t what you’d call a flavorful or complex spirit. Though aged for “at least 36 months,” it’s mild to the point of being almost watery, and though it contains a fair bit of vanilla and spice character, these notes are more hinted at than being an essential part of the whisky.
It’s not at all unenjoyable, but it’s simply very plain. It is, however, easily a solid pick to reach for when mixing with Coke, ginger ale, or whatever else floats your boat.
80 proof.

I was raised on it. Nothing better.
yeahhhh buddy, goes good mixed with coke
Of the number of Canadian whiskies I have tried this is the first not to have that tire fire flavor and oily aftertaste. I tried this after reading a good review from a columnist. Was worth the price and better than I expected due to the past experience of the Canadian whiskies so far.
Since I waa not impressed when I see it was an offeron mmy local convenience store @ Mexico (cd Juarez) I decided to look for some reviews about this particular blend so I think It’s not bad for $96 pesos at soriana that would be no more than $9 bucks for you guys so I think I’m going back and buy a bottle just to see and tellhw it really is.. will let you know.
Canadian Blended Whisky – My favorite for the last 40 years … so mellow!
Canadian Mist Blended Whisky – my favorite for the past 40 years … so mellow!
One of the cheapest and best tasting mixers for both coke and 7up.
I’m in my 60’s and have tried a lot of different brands of whiskey. I have been drinking Canadian Mist for about a year now and will never drink anything else. It is the richest, smoothest, blended whiskey you will ever find !
Over the years I have tried Jack, Wild Turkey, Crown Royal, and even some whiskeys that I can’t remember their names. Discovered Canadian Mist about 3 years ago and I doubt I will go back to any of the others, ever. Damn good sipping whiskey, Period!
It’s okay. As low as I’ll go on the shelves.
I’ve been drinking various whiskeys and without the “e”, and tried
Ive been drinking various whiskies, and and am familiar with the brown/foreman company, they also make woodford reserve bourbon, with that in mind they make a good product. Canadian mist reminds me of that flavorful bourbon. Not as expensive but has that qaulity. I like the rye notes despite what the snob whiskey and without the ‘e” say, I say go with your taste buds, it didn’t win a double gold for nothing.
Love the whiskey but REALLY MISS the flat l.75 bottles!
I love Canadian Mist, but what I REALLY MISS are the flat 1.75 liter bottles! They fit much better in my liquor cabinet!
Sipping Canadian Mist and Fireball on rocks. Tastes so good.
I am glad that you have went back to the flat bottle on the 1.75 . It just fits my hand better. thanks again. Ps what’s in the bottle is a great tasting adult beverage i enjoy on the rocks
Just bought my first bottle of CM. I see what everyone is talking about now. Smooth…too smooth. I really didn’t need to find this – but I’m glad I did!
picked up some .. CANADIAN MIST… at Walmart and its the worst whiskey ever had and I am 62 . I think Walmart doctored it up from some old gas left over . that is what I get going to Walmart everything there is factory leftovers every thing they sell isn’t the same as in other stores it’s made just for Walmart and now there giving people a hard time bring things back just like Kmart did .
Totally agree. In the same way that CC is by far the best value among all refined and somewhat complex whiskies today, Mist is by far the best value of Canadians period. It has exactly the proper and smooth balance of the scotch-bourbon thing: barley and corn.
Cheap it may be, however it’s smooth mellow, and best of all I like it,( Roll me a fatty and sip slow
Tasty as any sixteen year old, with a misty scent of vanilla. I’d dip my wick in her anytime!
Great for taking the chill off a cold afternoon.
