Review: 2021 Binnun Bordeaux Style Blend Judean Hills Reserve

Review: 2021 Binnun Bordeaux Style Blend Judean Hills Reserve

This Israeli wine keeps its eye on France, offering a definitively Bordelais style wine made from a blend of 55% cabernet sauvignon, 30% merlot, 5% cabernet franc, and 3% petit verdot.

The finished product is slightly sweet with notes of fresh plums and strawberry up top, but the wine settles into a groove to reveal notes of licorice, blackberry, and a brooding beefy quality that builds as the wine develops and warms a touch. A light oakiness gives the finish a savory bent, chewy and mildly tannic with a brambly quality clinging to the experience. While short on some needed acidity, the wine makes up for that with an exuberant focus on black fruits, sprinkled with light notes of fresh rosemary and thyme.

Kosher. Aka Bin Nun, Bin nun.
