Review: Pentire Coastal Spritz Non-Alcoholic Aperitif

Pentire is a UK-based brand of non-alcoholic spirits and ready-to-drink cocktails, and we open our coverage of the brand with this NA amaro, a hearty concoction made from “naturally distilled coastal botanicals carefully blended with Blood Orange, Sea Rosemary and Oakwood.” The idea, as the name of the product suggests, is to evoke the sea… or at least the sea as it exists in England.

It’s a bit funky from the start, the blood orange clearly dominating, but with a significant vegetal tone underneath. Notes of rosemary hint at pungent green herbs, and there’s a certain nutty quality that feels akin to walnut. The finish is where things get a little more dicey, with a strong note of carrot dominating and lingering for quite some time. Yeesh, I coulda had a V8!

Better with soda or another mixer as intended in a Spritz-like cocktail.
